Why can’t you?
“Because _______”
Over the years, my friends, colleagues, clients (and even myself) have offered hundreds of “reasons” why:
- “I can’t run that fast”
- “I can’t draw”
- “it’s too hard”
- “I like chocolate too much”
- “I am impossible to be around when I quit smoking”
- etc etc etc
Deep down, we know that there are two basic types of barriers. The genuine physical limitations, “Joe, can you not see that there is literally an adolescent elephant sitting on my chest. No I cannot run your marathon today” and those that are merely products of our own fears: “I can’t run the marathon today, Joe, because, you know … ELEPHANTS!”
By creating a safe and sacred inner space, hypnotherapy allows us to look differently at those fears that may be holding us back. It allows us to question the support we have been giving them, to subvert their power over us in order to, eventually, transcend them.
